Passionnate by the new technologies, Biliana K. Voden Aboutaam, in quest of new expressions, presents an original series of works entitled « Impossible landscapes », composed of digital paintings and sculptures.
Forest of erected sky scrapers sparkling in the light, emerging from a metallic island like floating into space, what is this complex apparition, made of synthetic powder solidified with a laser ?
At a first glance, it is immediately a vision of the City of New York that comes to mind ; however, in a strange way, it is not New York. The more you look at it, the more a conflictual impression appears, between something familiar, « already seen », and something incomprehensible. In fact, it shows an « impossible landscape », resulting from the digitalization of various cards of the New yorker metropol, which layers were fusioned.
The lost of reality through digitalization establishes a new form of reality, which can be designated as Digital Realism. In the present case, a holographic box transforms the physical body of the digital sculpture into an immaterial state, projecting it into space in a 3D hologram.
« The integrality of this process reinforces the state of dematerializazion and constitutes a step to go further into the universe of unconsciousness of digitalization and its aesthetic potentials, as a new formal language », says the artist.
A singular and misleading creation, wich confrontation and visual experience are unique and challenging.
